Why I LOVE the Dried Flower Wedding Florals Trend

Okay, let’s face it…I really didn’t like the dried flower trend in the 80’s and early 90’s that I found all over the craft fairs BUT I really do LOVE the new comeback that dried flowers are currently having as a wedding flower trend!

As a flower grower myself , I personally love cutting flowers/grasses in the hot month of August with the purpose of giving them everlasting life as a dried flower. It is a rewarding process to cut them, bunch them, process them, hang them, and store them for use in future designs. There is definitely joy found in the seasonality of dried flowers being cut in the summer, dried over the fall, and preserved through the cold and harsh winter months. The best part is how they can retain much of their color if dried and stored properly!

Using dried flowers and products in wedding floral design is a growing trend that I hope continues for some time. There is a wealth of product available, it adds so much interest and texture to design work, and it can be re-purposed by the bride and kept with her forever. A piece of her bouquet that will last for years to come.

The following images are from a gorgeous elopement photoshoot I collaborated on with a friend at a beautiful lake location in Cody, WY. The florals created for this shoot were neutral drieds mixed with few neutral fresh florals in the form of Antique Carnations and Roses. I just love how everything turned out!!
